EcoThreads is a sustainable fashion brand located in Torquay, committed to circular design and promoting environmental awareness, targeted at 15-20 year old girls interested in the beach lifestyle, fashion and who have a vague understanding of fast fashion. Recognizing rising fast fashion concerns, the designs focus on promoting slow fashion and reducing global impact, most prominently on the environment and society.
The message design poster highlights the societal influence of fast fashion and how this is a driving force for overconsumption, using bold colour contrast, and cropped runway imagery to symbolise manipulation and loss of individuality. The poster’s clean typography and vibrant visual language target social-media active teens, delivering a striking and memorable message that encourages reflection on consumption habits. For a professional look, shifting away from watercolour paint media to a Vector-based application using adobe illustrator.
Complementing the poster is a line of three summer tops produced from repurposed and sustainable materials reinforcing the circular design aspect. I Incorporated ocean-inspired colours, shell-like shapes and fish-scale sequins to reflect the coastal lifestyle of Torquay while appealing to young women aged 15–20. These designs use flattering proportions, vibrant palettes, and natural textures to capture audience preferences while embedding sustainable values. The ideas were created through the use of watercolour paint media, but were refined to be produced physically using repurposed textile materials, sourced from op shops and unwanted garments.
