My paintings explore the interaction between light, colour and texture through the use of oil paint applied with a palette knife. My intention is to capture the energy and immediacy of the subject rather than a polished or photographic realism. By focusing on still life objects and landscapes, I aim to reveal beauty in the ordinary and evoke the sensory qualities of touch and vision simultaneously. The use of thick impasto layers allows the paint itself to become the subject. Each stroke leaves a trace of movement, building a surface that is both sculptural and expressive. In the still lifes, the vibrant reds, greens, and yellows of fruit highlight ideas of nourishment, transience, and vitality. In the landscapes, contrasting cool tones and warm sunlight explore nature’s power to shift atmosphere and mood.
