This year in Design, I designed a book cover and over-the-counter merchandise for the title Theus. Theus started as a COVID-19 project story written by a friend who has taken the book into an editing phase. My friend agreed for me to produce the visuals for the book and the character cards. I wanted the cover to look modern and, at the same time, communicate the connections we have with space, magic, crystals and exploration. Using digital programs and drawing inspiration from preexisting covers, I developed a series of visuals using different methods, particularly painting. My creations aimed to appeal to a young adult audience. My favourite part of this design process was the conception and development of the characters in the story, their outfits and accessories.
