Throughout this year, I chose to work for a businessman, Kun Peng, who is passionate about food. He recently started the concept of a restaurant named ‘Chuan Hong’ (川红坊), Sichuan’s Red in English. Within his dream of introducing Sichuan food and culture to Australia, he chose the Great Ocean Road, Victoria, to launch his new adventure next year in June. Aiming to reveal Peng’s cultural background, I worked on a wooden construction inspired by the ancient architecture of Tian Tan from Beijing, backed by red as a symbol of China and orange as a symbol of Sichuan. With the logo, I included a Chinese character using a complementary palette with a character developed in the traditional Chinese calligraphy art style. I tried including a gold stroke as well. Ultimately, I combined traditional elements to provide a concept that will showcase the experience of tasting a Sichuan menu surrounded by an architectural staple.
