Rumination

1 - 3 | Digital photograph

‘Rumination’ is a photography series that explores the impact of genocide from the viewpoint and psyche of both the Greek and Armenian communities. This catastrophic event resulted in the loss of numerous lives, stripping away hope, optimism, and a sense of security. The exodus of many people led to the disappearance of comfort, dependability, and happiness. Lives and years were stolen due to the actions of the Ottoman Empire (1299-1809), compelling citizens to turn to their Orthodox faith in an attempt to regain their strength and belief, aiming to illuminate a light that had been suppressed for many years. Drawing inspiration from the resilient history embedded in the bloodlines of these nations, I created an introspective ambience to present a series of resolved photographs. These images showcase the various stages of recollection, offering a deep, contemplative observation. Laden with concealed details, the photographs provide an immersive experience, hauntingly capturing the echoes of the past.
