This year, my exploration focused on the human form and its expressions. My sculptural work investigates modelling form and utilising colour. Through my scaled figures, I intend to evoke feelings of curiosity and familiarity. I have drawn inspiration from a diverse array of sources, notably artists Patricia Piccinini and Shaun Tan. These influences have significantly influenced how I perceive the human form and have contributed to my ongoing exploration of the extensive spectrum of our inherent beauty. In the resolved artworks ‘Molly’ and ‘Billie’s Slouch,’ I explored the manipulation and variability of the human body. I aim to spotlight the imperfections and inconsistencies that inherently characterise the human body, emphasising these flaws as integral components contributing to our recognisable humanity.
