My work relates to my Italian ancestry, particularly in relation to traditional food served at trattorias. Francesco's Pizzeria, nestled in Werribee, is a family-owned Italian restaurant renowned for its pizzas, plates of pasta, and desserts. Founded by Italian immigrants Francesco and Maria in 1957, their four children now actively manage the restaurant, which is dedicated to sharing the diversity of Italian culture. The trattoria required a logo on their aprons and pizza boxes and a modern, simplistic menu. The client requested their image to be a modern but intertwining traditional element simultaneously. I researched different Italian restaurants with the same modern aesthetic and modified several options, honing my illustration skills and modernising the aesthetic into illustrations that I then used the imagery.
