For my final series, I created mixed media artworks using watercolour paint and lino prints. My intention was to explore and celebrate the beauty of the natural world around us, focusing particularly on flowers and flowing organic forms. Throughout my work, I aimed to capture the delicate yet vibrant qualities of nature. To achieve this, I combined bright colours, organic shapes, and expressive line work. These elements allowed me to communicate the joy and happiness I feel when surrounded by nature, while also evoking similar emotions in the viewer. The inspiration for my finals came largely from my own backyard, which is filled with a wide variety of flowers, as well as from other gardens and natural environments that I visited. Drawing on these sources enabled me to incorporate personal and authentic details into my artwork, but it also allowed me to feel personally connected to my mixed media works after they had been completed. Overall, my aim was to not only share the happiness that I experience when surrounded by nature with those who view the artworks, but to also encourage audience members to notice, celebrate and connect with the beauty that exists around us in our everyday life.
